Drug-loaded PCL electrospun nanofibers as anti-pancreatic cancer drug delivery systems

Abstract Cancer is one of the main causes death worldwide, being pancreatic cancer second deadliest in Western countries. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy form basis cancer’s current treatment. However, these techniques have several disadvantages, such as surgery complications, systemic side effects recurrence. Drug delivery systems can reduce effects, increasing effectivity treatment by a controlled release at targeted tumor cells. In this context, coaxial electrospun fibers increase control on profile drug. The aim study was to encapsulate different anticancer drugs (5-Fluorouracil Methotrexate) from polymeric fiber mat. Different flows ratios were used test their effect morphology, FTIR spectrum, drug encapsulation release. Good integration observed use desiccator for 24 h showed be key step remove solvent remanence. Moreover, results demonstrated that solution could treat cancers.
